Wolves run faster than people in real life, too. That's just the way it is.
On the other hand, at least two wolves have been killed by player characters in the last two sessions.
Apparently in both cases they caught the wolves when they were too tired to run anymore.

it is true that i got them at that one spot where they stop for a minute, but they have no reason to run all the time, unless running away or chasing something the oughtn't be running like that. they also don't have much reason to stop where i caught them, at the lake i understand, but this is a place where you don't have anything in sight. no wolf with any survival instinct would sit in the middle of a plain for a rest.

We'll try to get the wolves to behave more realistically and the snakes to move slower.
As for creatures dropping loot, I am well aware that it is standard practice in MMOPRGs for every creature to have some sort of loot that it drops. I can't help but notice that the items that are dropped in some games have no decent explanation for why such a creature would have it. I really don't want to make a game where wolves drop silver coins or magic items. Intelligent enemies might, but not wolves.
Wolves and snakes do not carry any possessions at all. The only items you could get from them would be parts of their bodies. That's why wolves always drop meat and one wolf hide per wolf.
What part of a snake would you want to make use of? I could make it so that you can get snake meat. If I had the graphics for it, you could get a snake skin or fangs, but since we have no crafting that uses such things, there seems to be no point to collecting them. This is why snakes don't drop anything. It is assumed there is nothing on the snake that you would want to take.

Speed of snakes has already been reduced in version 01.54. Unfortunately that's not the version we'll be using in the next session. Wolf behavior has been changed in that version as well.

Please post feedback here. Sorry to everyone about the technical problems and server reboots. Especially those of you for whom this was your first session.

I'm sorry I left so early. I got a lot of things done, though. I visited the temple, sold some things, made some purchases, almost met a new player.
I look forward to the next session.

We've got a server crash and another technical problem. Not sure if we can solve it right away.

We may have to resort to a backup from session before last. That would mean all progress from the last two sessions would be gone and six new players would have to recreate their accounts.
We're looking for some other solution, but haven't found one yet. Any especially valuable items that were lost can be given back to you by Tronor if you ask him in-game.
Exp can also be given, but it doesn't matter as much as you think it does. We abolished levels a while back. They are to be replaced by skill ratings for each weapon, but that hasn't been implemented yet.

It looks like there's no way to recover the data. Normally, each session is backed up so even the worst server crash would not cause more than one session's data to be lost.
I think this is the only time we had gone two sessions without a backup and this is the only time that the accounts data was lost due to a server crash. The fact that those two happened to occur at the same time is very ...unlucky. Murphy's Law seems to have been at work here.
The worst of this is that six new players have lost their accounts entirely and will have to start over.
From a role playing standpoint, everyone should treat this as though some strange magical problem involving the Eternal Flame in the land of the gods has caused the whole world to go back in time a week. Everyone still has memories of what happened during that week, but the effects of it are gone and everything is back the way it was before that week happened.
For some characters, this will be an answer to their prayers because they were dead and praying for resurrection. Instead of being resurrected, they will have a chance to go back in time a week and perhaps relive that week differently so that they don't get killed.
For the ten or more characters created by the six new players during the past week who didn't exist a week ago or who were dwarves or gnomes who did exist, but didn't have souls, you can recreate your same character and assume they were created or given a soul earlier than before.
Sorry for all this. The game is still unfinished and there are all sorts of problems. We just try to work it into the storyline and go on.

Lets try to RP this. Rock port is now bankrupt, the good captain of the Magic ship has Quit because his pay was not on time. Oodles of town folk are putting up a Fuss and started killing livestock because of this mess of the Act of the gods. Many merchants have quit as well. It's chaos i tell you....... It could get worse and the town may have to close because now taxes cannot be payed by the local folk.
