Greetings mortals and immortals alike,
I'm still eager to join in on the game. Patience is a virtue... But I'm not sure whether I am one of those good guys or...
So, Charles, can you give us a status update, seeing that April has been reached already?
Watching and waiting, Void

Hywalker,
As for the bots, yes, I have to keep deleting spam messages.
Voidstar,
I'm sorry, but there's a whole lot more work that needs to be done before the game is ready and I've got a lot of other things going on so I haven't even been working on it for a while, but one of our vendors has had programmers working on the graphics and the game engine a lot since we took the game offline.
That's one of the main reasons I know it will require a huge amount of work to get it back online. We're going to have to do a lot to make the revised game engine and the new graphics work right with the existing game content.
It is even possible that virtually everything will have to be done all over again from scratch.
In that case, when the game gets back online, the First Age will have ended in a massive cataclysm similar to the "Great Cataclysm" that ended the Elder Days and made the world the way it was in the First Age.
Even if we can easily use the game content we've already created, I expect that enough will be different that huge amounts of time will have passed and the First Age will have ended and the Second Age begun when the game gets back online again.
That doesn't necessarily mean people will lose their existing characters. Since the First Age was very much a magical time when many aspects of the world were not yet in place, people who came into existence in that time may be immune from aging at least during the years that pass while the game is offline. Players who have already played will recall that there was no aging feature anyway but it will be added at some point.
Players who have been with us since the early days of the First Age will even recall a time when nobody needed to eat because the Gods had not yet created hunger. This is sort of like that.
Oh yeah, one other thing. I know you guys are going to hate this, but I've just changed the main web page to say that it will maybe be online by June, not April. Sorry, but that's a more realistic estimate at this point.
I am starting to hear from more and more players and people who've never played it but want to. All of them are saying get on with it.

Hey,
That sucks. We'll just have to keep our hopes up then.
I have been creating an interest in game development. I have checked out blender and it seems like a cool program. And it's pretty user friendly and easy to learn. So, I was thinking I could offer my services if there was any work on the project suitable for a beginner.
I probably need to get myself a new computer, because I'm pretty sure this one won't be able to handle the updated graphics seeing that my computer barely meets the old system requirements.
Looking at the bright side, I now have more time for that too.

Voidstar,
Well, thank you very much for offering. We really could use somebody doing some work on graphics with Blender.
For legal reasons I need to mention that this is not an offer of employment or payment of any kind. As per the disclaimers on this site, unless we agree otherwise in writing, if you give us any graphics, you are also giving us the unlimited right to use them, resell them, etc. without compensation to you just as if we owned all rights except that you would retain the right to use any copy of the graphics that you retain for any purpose.
We may require that you sign a written contract that says this. Even if we don't, we need you to acknowledge this on this board.
That's because of copyright issues. If you create graphics for us without giving us the right to use them, that doesn't help.
Although we are not offering to pay anything now, if you get really good at using blender and we get to the point where we're actually making a profit off the game, we might enter into some new agreement where we pay you to do things for us.
I am impressed by how much you want to be involved in this game considering that you haven't even had a chance to actually play it. I almost want to crank up the game server and run the old version just so you can see it. It wouldn't really give you a feel for the game, though, because in a real game session, there are other players and the things that happen permanently affect the game world.
I don't want to have a real game session partly because it's been so long that hardly anyone would show up and there are bugs that haven't been fixed which are one of the main reasons we shut it down. The other main reasons were that we needed to do some major upgrades, one of our vendors was saying they were ready to implement a massive overhaul of the game engine and the graphics and also I wanted to take a break from it because I needed to get on with Christmas shopping. (Yes, the game has been offline since before Christmas.)
Still, we could turn it on just so you could walk around in the game and see the world. Of course, you'd be seeing it as it was at the end of the First Age with the old graphics and that will (hopefully) all be changed when it comes back online.

Based on what I've read and seen on the website, the game has interesting ideas. It seems like it could have all the qualities I thought were missing from mmorpgs that I have played. I just want to point out again that I'm just a beginner in modeling and such, so don't expect too much from me at first anyways. You can of course have the rights to the graphics or other stuff I create concerning the game that I give to you. It would be great to see how the game world looks or looked like with the old graphics. You have put Radeon 9800 or better in the system requirements and my current computer has only a radeon 9250, so I'm not sure if I can run it even on the old graphics. But it's always worth a shot. I have to start saving money for a new computer. Though this one has served me well and it does run at least blender good enough. Void

Voidstar,
I need to buy a new mouse before running the game again. The mouse on my main computer broke so I started using the one from the game server.
After I get a new mouse, I need to get you a copy of the game software that you need to download. Then we need to pick a time and day for this.
I'll let you know when I'm ready. As I said, I have a lot of other things going on.
I'm curious, when you said Magic of the Gods might have all the qualities that you thought were missing from other MMORPGs that you played, which qualities are you thinking of? I know which ones I would list, but I would be interested to see what your thinking on that is.

Message to Hywalker:
What do you mean by "pick me, pick me"? For what, to login if we turn on the game server to show Voidstar what the game looks like? It wouldn't be an actual session. Nothing that your character does would be saved. When we have an actual session, you would be right back where you are now. Speaking of which, aren't you one of the guys trapped in the Underworld?
You're welcome to join in if we turn on the game server, but it won't be an actual game session. Your reign of "EBIL" will have to begin with the next actual game session and that is probably months away. On the other hand, when that happens, many years, probably centuries, will have passed and it will be the Second Age. Your character, as a survivor from the legendary First Age, will have an opportunity, if you wish, to not only be "EBIL", but an ancient "EBIL", which is generally considered far more cool. That doesn't get you out of the Underworld and back to the land of the living, but then, that's a common problem for those who choose to be "EBIL".

One of features in MotG that I'm interested in is the changing world. Characters being able to change the world, even permanently. In games like world of warcraft, it often felt as if the game wasn't really developing or going anywhere. I like to role play in a role playing game and a believable changing world is something I've been wanting to experience in a MMORPG. And sometimes I just couldn't enjoy playing wow because it felt like a huge waste of time after playing because the game world never changed no matter what I did.
Also, the freedom of choice, like what you have written in the strategy guide on the website about the different paths a character can take.
The lore is pretty interesting too, how you have connected in game things to real world things, like the forms of magic etc. Lots of fun reading the texts in the wiki and the website.

OMG: Ancient EBIL. I have gone from the insight of becoming a Paladin like my father before me to becoming an Ancient EBIL Char of what stat i do not remember but how i got there i do remember (EBIL GRIN). I still have healing powers and some other skills that i have learned along the way. I also remember a Lady as well as a friend that were in the same area as myself when last in that world........ Hell yes it's a life i chose because it's the way the game was intended to be played. You die and you end up in the underworld, I took that responsibility of staying because it was fitting and will stay as well. Who know what can happen. Name the place and time and as Val as my witness i shall try to be their. I would like to reserve this name "HELLWALKER" if possible. Thanks in advance.

Hywalker, You will have to learn somethings before you can attempt to try to be ancient evil... Some things such as a plan is required... Luckily I've got one.. I will tell you of it on the next real game session. Also I'm currently on dial up so I have to wait till broadband is back before I can play again so I can't help play with Void on the fake session.
